Certified Professional Dog Trainers have dog training skills as well as instructor skills to enhance the training experience for you and your canine companion. pCBATI, provisional Certified Behavior Adjustment Training Instructor![]() BAT stands for Behavior Adjustment Training Instructor. Behavior Adjustment Training, or BAT, rehabilitates dog reactivity by looking at why the dog is reactive and helping him or her meet his needs in other ways. In a nutshell, BAT is a dog-friendly application of ‘functional analysis’ that gives the dogs a chance to learn to control their own comfort level through peaceful means. It’s very empowering to your dog, in a good way.
Certified BAT Instructors have met all of the requirements for certification, including passing a rigorous written and practical exam. Full certification (CBATI) requires logging over 200 hours of training experience with clients. The APDT was founded in 1993 by Ian Dunbar DVM, Ph.D. as a forum for trainers to associate with one another and to discuss topics of mutual interest. Our membership consists of dog trainers throughout the United States and around the world. Our members include world renowned speakers and authors, veterinarians, dog trainers, dog club members, humane society personnel and service dog trainers. Educational Content & Training Philosophy
Vivian Zottola’s Human -Dog behavior and communication training is rooted in kindness and current evidence based animal science. Behavior Training Interventions Vivian has designed are ideal for humans and their pets of all -life stages (juvenile, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and breeds regardless if acquired from a commercial, private breeder or through a rescue/shelter. Vivian provides people and their pet companions the opportunity to learn based on the individuals’ (human and animal) unique perception and personal needs. Teaching strategies incorporated may include a mix of structured reward based operant conditioning, desensitization, counter conditioning, response substitution, relaxation and replacement training for both human and pet animal. No aversive (punishment tactics including fear, pain or intimidation) tools, equipment or discipline is used in any of Vivian’s training practice.
