Clickers. Why Use Them.
In the training world we need a precise sound that has an immediate onset and offset sound like the CLICK to mark the exact time our pet does the behavior we want. When paired with a treat (click THEN give a treat) it helps relay the message they have done something right. It has been up until now an efficient way for us primates to communicate with our canine pets. We MARK the behavior THEN offer a treat to reward the behavior. So, we are making an association. The clicker is are eventually replaced with a word EXcellent or CLICK. Again a sound that is close to a broad band frequency immediate onset/offset. We phase treats out and replace with alternative "feel good" equivalent like a toy, a tug, a praise etc. Using the right equipment helps make training a rewarding experience. Using the right equipment helps us to communicate what we want to our animals so they may learn quickly
